Prominent Ear is one of the most frequently performed operations. It is usually formed by lying on the ear and bending outward during babyhood. It is normal for the ear to remain open outwardly, that is, the prominent ear, since the ear cartilages are softer and malleable between the ages of 4 and 6 years.
Generally, this operation can be performed on any patient after the age of 6, when cartilage and ear development is completed (exactdecision is made during the examination).
If the operation is to be performed in both ears, it takes about 1 or 1,5 hours. If only one ear has the deformity, the patient gets the desired appearance with an operation that takes 45 minutes.A tennis player plaster is attached immediately after the operation, to form the cartilages to the desired shape. The patient must wear the tennis player plaster for 3 weeks after the surgery.
The patient can be discharged on the same day or the next day.
On the 5th day after the operation, the patient’s suture path and ear are checked.
