Nose Job (Rhinoplasty)
Rhinoplasty is important in two different ways. The first is the ability to breathe. The nose that provides sufficient air entry to the two nasal cavities is a healthy nose. Another importance is its decisive role in appearance, since it is located in the centre of our face.
Rhinoplasty is performed with two different techniques, as open and closed. The surgical technique to be performed is completely determined together with the patient and the doctor. However, the condition and deformity of the nose area is the most significant factor in determining the surgical technique.
The surgery is performed under general anesthesia. It can take between 1 hour and 2.5 hours depending on the condition and deformity of the nose. At the end of the operation, a small Splint is placed outside the nose, which does not adversely affect the comfort of life. If necessary, no tampons or splints are placed in the nose.
Patients are kept in the hospital for one evening in the postoperative period for pain control (Rhinoplasty is an operation that causes very little pain in general) and regular ice application (to keep oedema and bruises minimal). It is very important to clean the nose of the patient with medical fluids after the operation and to keep that area hygienic.
When the patient comes to the control on the 5th day of the operation, the splint in the nose is removed and the nose is left completely open. Nasal massage is recommended for the first 30 days for recovering swiftly from oedema.
In rhinoplasty, it may take between 6 and 8 months for the full result to appear, and this varies depending on the person. On the 5th day after the operation, patients can return to their normal routine and most of the recovery is completed in the 1st month. You don’t have to wait to get the look you dream of.
